You've learned a lot over your lifetime. Would be cool for you to pass on as much knowledge as you can. The next best thing to fishing is talking about fishing. You could re-live some of your fishing experiences and help others at the same time.

My professor in a buisness class once said, "All statistics lie." Good health to you, and drink a beer a say, keep those kidneys flushed out.

Had a freind he was given 6 months by his doctor, he lived for another 14 years, everytime he had a follow up appointment he would walk in and say to the doctor " im still here. Put exporation dates on milk not humans. Like you said we all different, the way God made us. Focus on living not dying as William Schatner has said. Prays to ya brother.

This past week my kidney specialist, when asked my possible life expectancy, said it was two years. Now while this estimate is not concrete, it is probably a good estimate, and could even be shorter! Now remember i am already 89 years old.

So, what would you do if you were in my place? I am open to any ideas. Bear in mind that I have already visited all the foreign countries I ever wanted to visit. Brazil, Canada, Costa Rico, China, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Thailand, Venezuela, and possibly others I have lost track. The other places I would have like to have visited but didn’t were Egypt, Australia, and Portugal. I have flown over Greenland on a return trip from Scotland.

In addition, I have already caught all the fish I wanted to catch, Marlin 179 lbs, Snook 12 lbs, Tarpon 60 lbs, Peacock Bass 19 lbs, and Black Bass 9 lbs. None of these were world record but were big enough to satisfy my desire to catch and land them. As far as Alligator Gar, I have caught and landed a large number but nothing over 15 lbs.

So, I suggest you create your own list. You will achieve more if you create a list. Think about the things and places you want to visit. If you had only two years left, you probably would not have time to visit them all or catch all the fish you have targeted. That’s o.k., ambitious plans will get more done than if you had not planned to accomplish. All the destinations and fish I caught were over a much longer period. You will accomplish more by planning, than just hit or miss!

Remember, you will probably get old and feeble a long time before you accomplish your goals, but having ambitious plans will get you further than not having a plan at all.

Just so you know, I intend to beat the two-year guestimate of my doctor. I hope you do the same. We all have just one life, so make the most of it. God Bless you, one and all! Just Sayin…RJS

I would ask you to record your life and what you did right and not so right. My great grandmother did this as she came to Arizona in a wagon and had a ranch outside of tombstone and knew of many of the people like the Earps that would stay at the ranch that was about 20miles out of town.I have shared this with my kids, grandkids and about to share with my great grandkids. History should not be lost to time

I know you said that you visited all of the foreign countries you ever wanted, but what about staying domestically and fishing in Alaska for some trout or salmon.

Thanks for the advice. I have written two books which cover my life from three years old until now! I did this for my kids and grandkids. Now. i write stories to post on Fishing Forum and my own entertainment.

Your Great Grandmother sounds like a real pioneer. My great grandmother came to Texas to live with her sister when my great grandfather was killed in the Civil War. The Indian raids were so often, she had to take her children and go back to Louisiana until the war was over. Those were tough times. Just Sayin..RJS

Excellent point. I video taped my grandfather doing the same idea. I shared this old video with my children, cousins, and grandchildren. My grandfather was 95 when he died. A lot of found memories and history preserved

My daughter signed my wife and me up for "Story Worth". The site sends you an email every week for a year. The email contained a question about you as a younger person. An example would be, how did you get along with your Dad? You can write a couple of paragraphs about the subject or make your own subjects. You can get a book of all your stories at the end of the year. It is an interesting way to pass on some of the stories to your kid and grandkid.

Yes, a good idea if you cannot figure those steps yourself. If you sign up, you will recognize the simplicity of the that system. I recommend it if you need the help. Regardless, I strongly suggest you grab the grizzly by the tail and hang on!

In my case, since I can remember things of when I was three years old, I just started there and moved forward. Just Sayin...RJS
