I wish I still had all my old vinyl records, and a stereo system from the 70,s or 80,s,
The systems they have today don’t even compare, and I can’t understand how kids listen to their jams on a cell phone it sounds like cr@p

100% agree. I was a DJ as side hustle in High School. If you add a speaker it’s a little better but you’re right on the money. I have everything but the huge speakers for my DJ setup. My dad wanted them because we built them together. They were stolen though shortly after I gave him them. I miss having a REAL stereo with THUMP and all frequencies of good sound in the house. Even many of the sound bars for todays TVs leave a bunch to be desired.

My last “good “ stereo system I had was from the early 90s and my speakers were stolen as well

So good to see I am in the same class as everyone ahead of me that recognizes all those captions. The card on the bike brings back the most memories.

Thanks Wulffy, the brain is flashing back as I type.

Have a friend that is kicking himself to this day because when he was a kid he put a new Babe Ruth card on his bike to make the noise.

Never had any of them when I was a kid. No electricity, no neighbors within a couple miles had to roam around the country and fish or shoot things.
However, I recognize almost all of them.

That's an OUCH for sure Placer. I didn't put any of the Orioles on my bike and being that young not sure who I had put on. Might have done a Babe, Mickey, or even let Ted let the neighbor hood know I was riding the streets.

I was not fortunate enough to get freebie cards, had to look for soda bottles and turn them in for a pay day. Taught me to respect what I had and work for what I wanted.

Those drive-in speakers kept you up to date on the movie you weren't watching because you had other things in mind,

I delivered newspapers. 6 days a week rain or shine all year summer was 98f-108 on bicycle. Once I realized the playing cards for motorcycle sound slowed the bike down I just made the noise with my voice if needed. Parents taught all of us to work for whatever we wanted. Farm work Newspapers Family Businesses I never was a TV hound as a kid. Had a Car before my Provisional Drivers License ( under 18 ) that comes at 16 after having learners permit. Had been driving since 12 from jobs I had but not on pavement for any long distance. Tractors and heavy equipment. Cars trucks whatever.
