Yeah we got big uns in Mississippi. There's a spot in pascagoula i can bring you to and you can catch 6' to 8' footers all day long and thats average. I've hooked much bigger one that i never landed. There's nothing like when your drag locks up on your penn deep sea rig and getting pulled across the grass like your water skiing.lol .before your 72 lb. Nylon pops and sounds like a 22 pistol going off... Tight lines...

Wow! I've never heard of a "gar killer" lure. Can you post a picture? Some anglers here would rig up a wire loop, making a noose, then have a live minnow, perch, or mullet, hooked and dangling in the center of this loop with a float to keep the ensemble on the surface of the water. I have also heard of folks doing a similar thing by using nylon rope, or cord and fraying the end and having a live bait inside. The gar when taking the bait would entangle their teeth in the nylon. Use to be loops of nylon.

Don't look like they would be hard to fabricate.

Yes I've heard of people using Loops like that too and when it tightens up its snares around their mouth and the teeth keep them hooked as long as the line stays tight
