We just had a 105 boat Bass tournament at Shasta Lake in Northern California and the majority were caught between 2-20 feet although they caught down to 40 feet. The top 5 were in the top 20 feet. Trout have been in the 8=10 foot range 56 degrees.

Fishing in fresh water at those depths isn't fun. I would suggest vertical jigging, but more important, if you are a catch and release angler, pulling fish up from those depths causes pressure release problems. (bends) and if you return the fish to the water they will not sink and eventually die. The problem can be solved by Fizzing with a needle but you have to know what you are doing in that case. Another solution is to retrieve the fish very slowlt so they can release trapped air. If they are raised slowly, they will not get this "barotrauma."
