Mornin' Everyone! The bride and I went to Mexico yesterday, primarily to have whatever dental work we needed to have done, taken care of. Last year, I had two crowns put in for $200 each. It would have cost $1500 - $2000 ea. in the States. Last year a buddy of mine and his girlfriend flew down from MN., stayed a week and then flew back on the money he saved on having two crowns put in Mexico instead of the U. S. The dentist have all received their education in the U.S., I have looked at their certificates on the wall.
We always cross into Mexico at Progreso, from what we hear, it is the only safe place to cross over.

We always park on the U.S. side and walk over the Border, do whatever and walk back. We like to stop at the "Red Panty Bar" and have a couple of barley pops. $2.00 ea. for the beer and $1.00 tip of the bartender. It could be a cheap drunk, but no, it's a little over an hour's drive back. The first 6 blocks of Main street is the only place you want to go and it is wall to wall people. Mostly vendors selling whatever you want to buy. It's a fun place to go and we will usually make a couple of trips down.

Bad news! I seemed to have left my "Where Are You" spreadsheet at home. I haven't found it anyway and I had a special place to put it and it's not there. But the Forum is progressing very well and most of the members are putting their locations down, helping people out as best they can, that's as much as we can expect. Have a good one!

It's 67* here in Port Isabel, TX., it's supposed to get up to about 80* but we are in a wind advisory right now and it looks like it will only get worse throughout the weekend. Up to 40 - 50 mph gust, that will take care of the fishing on the Gulf.

Last year we lived next door to a couple from Detroit, She went down to Progreso for some dental work and ran into the same dentist that she has in Detroit. Her dentist in Detroit comes down here to get out of the cold in Detroit and also owns an office in Progreso. Our experiences with the Dentist down here have been good. Very clean offices, the hygienist cleans them the same way they do in the U. S. There are 25 - 30 dental offices in the six-block long area. The good ones have a full waiting room and bad ones have a "barker" outside their door trying to get customers in. No appointment needed for a clean and a checkup, $30.00. You get to the office, the waiting room will be full, the receptionist will tell you that it will be about an hour, you will go out to do whatever, come back and sit down in the dentist's chair and then you are done. They don't try to upsell you or anything. If you do need additional work done like fillings or crowns you will have to come back in a week or so and they will set you up with an appointment and they will tell you how much it will cost at that time. It's run like an assembly line and there will be 10 - 15 dentist in each office.

Good morning from St Louis, it’s a little rainy now, getting really windy as a front pushes through, expecting a lot of rain next cpl days turning to snow. Such fun. It was 54 past Sunday and I was out fishing in a t-shirt.

So all the US Certificates on a wall in Mexico are for sure legitimate? Just curious. Computers these days make it pretty EZ to make documents. Here at least you get busted if they are not legitimate.

We have dental insurance so whatever the fees are sent to double coverage dental insurance carrier. Implants are still expensive but there is usually a 100% covered alternative for us here.

A good point for consideration.
