Way too warm to scout Twin Cities ice spots. How far north is good ice found to go out even with theses warm days coming?

Around Alexandria, some folks have ventured out on foot! A few portables but mostly bucket squatters! When it’s in the upper thirties and low forties, in ain’t makin ice! If you go out, use a chisel, have ice picks, and wear your PFD! Might be safer to go to CUB and buy a package of Mrs Paul’s!

Some of the lakes around Mora are at 7+ inches. Two days ago I found 4'' on one lake. It's good quality ice in most area's around here. It should improve significantly with this cool weather.

We’ve had below zero temps the last few days which has helped improve ice depth. Here on Lake Mary we had a couple 4 wheelers pull out a couple wheel houses but they pulled them early afternoon. No matter where you go, it’s your job to check conditions!!

Any lake north of the Brainerd area
should have enough ice for atvs some for pickups. But some lakes stayed open in the middle so they only have 5 or6 inches out there.When people go tearing across the lake pulling their wheelhouse, and fall in out there we hear about it on the news . If your breaking a new trail check the ice thickness often especially in the middle. Good conditions and little snow otherwise.
