When did you get your first ticket what age and what for?? Mine was in 1962 with my first car as a senior in high school. I had a lowered 50 Chevy and I lowered it even more for a carshow we had at are school. The law in Ca is that nothing can Hang below the rims and headlights have to be no lower than 24 inches to the center of the light. On my way back home there was a motorcycle cop giving a ticket for speeding to my neighbor, and he sees my very low 1/2 inch from the ground Chevy and motions me to pull over. I lived on a short culdesac and never had seen a cop anyway near my neighbor hood. So he said show him my license and he saw that I just turned 18 and said I would have to pay for the ticket! I told him about the carshow and I drove home staying off the busy Main Street 5 blocks from my house and my house was just 2 houses from him and me and my friends who were following me were going to help me raise it back up. So he says that it was his duty to ticket me, what a dick!!! So when my US Marshal father came home I told him what happened and he said to give him it and that was the last I ever heard of it. Got my get out of jail free card. I don’t think that would fly today.
58 in a 45 in a Ford Dealership Service Manager’s ( my uncle ) car. Went to Laugh and Learn or maybe it was Lettuce Amuse You traffic school to erase it off my driving record.

The GOOD ol days. I was in a small town. Dad the Fed too and local fireman etc etc. could talk a CHP or Sheriff out of a ticket in about 5 minutes. Good for you. If you were smokin the tires and grass I can see why the guy hassled you but the missing element today is promoting trades like Auto Mechanics etc
If lowering cars and trucks gets a kid interested by golly do it.

'64, I was hungry and turned left, over a simulated island, into a jack in the box drivethru. Didn't get my burger. Had to save $ for the ticket.

Went around a car to the right that had his left hand blinker on back in 1968.
I guess I should have read his mind, he made a right. Cop said I should have waited. Here's your ticket now go tell your mom about the damage. OUCH

First accident - '66 - Lady had her right turn signal on so I pulled out in front of her. Crunch. That's when the traffic school officer taught me why assume is spelled that way.
No big thing, 40 in a 25 MPH zone while I was still 16. I was on my way to a date, guess I was eager to be there!

Hey San Diego resident I’m a native and been driving since 1960 and been lucky enough to have never been in an accident or ever put a dent in a vehicle. And if you’ve been in SD for awhile that’s a good record. I drove parts trucks in downtown SD for 3 years and was driving one ton trucks with trailers for 45 years in the garage door business. As far north as Dana point CA and as Far East as the Imperial valley. I couldn’t even guess how many miles I’ve driven since 1960. I guess I’m one of the lucky one on the road, I hope my luck never changes!! I better be extra careful now that I’ve said all this. Larry W.
Great story . I remember it was 1980 and I was driving my dad's 1965 Chevy c10 long bed. A few blocks away from the varsity football game between Saddleback vs El Toro I got pulled over . 16 years old and no drivers license and I knew everything 😆. Blasting "hungry like the wolf" by Duran Duran then the flashing lights came into view in my rearview mirror. The deputy was cool just giving me a citation and letting me continue on but I was more worried about what my pop's was going to say because I was suppose to be a few blocks away from the house and not miles away 😆, good old times
😄 yes, sounds like a dare to me.

Ticketless here. But in 1963 I was involved in 2 accidents in one day. 1st one, on my way to help my dad at a job he was on, driving the family car. Guy from my left ran a stop sign and t-boned me right behind drivers door. Car still drivable. That evening, out on a date in same car. Parked at the local sub marine race watching spot. Date and I sitting in middle of front seat to have best view of races when a driver lost control of his car and piled into the rear of my parked car. Hit so hard the front seat folded around the 2 of us. Car now totaled. Had fun explaining that one to my parents, but they were fairly understanding.

Boy, mine's a long story, maybe later. I'm tired , just got back from Tahoe.
Probably 1970. Driving dear old dad’s 1950 Dodge pickup. Had a flathead 6 ( imagine the power)! Drive through “snob hill”, I hit a curve and hammered it! Got her up on two wheels! It was the only way to spin the tires! Local PD was right behind me, damn! Pulled me over, chewed me out for 45 minutes! I finally snapped, “give me my ticket, or let me go”! Oh crap! That set him off. His was already ticked off because, as a rookie in town, he was told to not give tickets to the business people’s kids! He told me to go home, he followed me, and when I pulled into dad’s driveway, he turned on the lights and ragged on me for another half hour with the lights on! The entire neighborhood was awake now! When I went into the house, pops asked what was going on so I told him! Big mistake as dad was pals with the chief ! Mt get out of jail free card was now expired😂😂
