I need your opinions! I have gotten several emails about being a tackle tester for a few places. After doing some research I see that they want me to pay for shipping. I am always down for getting tackle and trying new stuff for bass fishing even though I am a big fan of Googan baits. Has anyone ever participated in being a tackle tester? Are there pros and cons for it? Any info.i get would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

I wouldn't think that was the norm.
I don't believe any pros have to pay anything.
I would think that they would kinda be like a sponsor. You don't have to pay them, do you?
If they contacted you to test THEIR tackle, then why should you have to pay anything?
I would tell them " I'll test anything you send me but I'm not payin you to send me stuff."
That's JMO though.

SAW that's kinda what I thought as well. But I don't think it's any kind if sponsorship though... I don't have a reason to have a sponsorship.i am a simple kayak fisherman with no YouTube channel, don't do tournaments, and hardly post on social media. Plus they only want me to pay shipping.

Well if you think it might be worth it.
I however would be leery of people soliciting money for something you didn't inquire about. Just Sayin. 🤔😕

No idea never received the request.
I'm not big on trusting people I don't know like the ones that promote things.

See if shipping cost is close to purchase price.

Proceed with caution 👍

Exactly. I get hit up about camping gear too both fishing and camping gear will probably be worth less than the shipping bill. Every time I started to check into doing it something rose red flags. So therefore I have never done it. NRA kept sending me their JUNK and I never bought into there bogus plans for me to vote and spend money on their way of thinking either.

The answer is a question. The question is would you sign a blank check and hand it to a stranger walking down the street?

I get offers for free stuff and all I have to do is pay shipping. I look at it, if I have to pay something it’s not free. So I ignore the offer.

Beware those ads, they are usually scams and you will pay far more for shipping than anything you get is worth.

Don’t send them any money $. Your opinion of their gear is more important to them then $.

Thanks guys for conveying my feelings.
I feel the same way.
I've had lots of offers to get free stuff in the mail, just pay shipping.
If you have to PAY shipping, it's not free.

Don't do it, it's probably fake.
Is product tester job a scam?
The problem is a lot of the ads going around for these jobs are fake, and even the real job doesn't really pay you. The watchdogs at Trend Micro are seeing a lot of this. Fake “product tester” job ads are being shared on social media including Facebook and TikTok.Nov 1, 2023
