I have a terrova trolling motor that extends over nose of boat when deployed. When backing boat off trailer it hits on storage roller and breaks the plastic off of trolling motor and sometimes the locking mechanism.
Anyone had this same problem

Something is not right. Can u provide a picture of your motor and the bow of your boat? I’m wondering, is your trolling motor mounted in the center of your boats bow. If so that can be your problem. The motor can hit your wench mount and bow roller when off loading, especially if u have a shallow draft hull. It is recommended that bow mounted motors be mounted either to the left or right or your bow center. This also helps when the motor is in the stored position giving more room

Yep, I agree with Rich. The TM shouldn't be hangin over the bow it should be mounted back far enough that it doesn't interfere with your winch or anything , like the dock, as you are pullin up to it.
Your motor is like my Minkota riptide. It is not a scissor style release motor which allows the motor to sit behind your bow allowing the scissor mechanism to deploy the motor over the front of the bow. Your motor , like mine must allow the mounting base to be positioned at least two inches beyond your bow lip for the motor shaft to be deployed properly and clear your bow. It is a direct drop down style mount. I recently installed this motor on my boat and the instructions were very clear as to mounting the motor base a minimum of 2 inches beyond the bow. My motor base extends two inches beyond my bow , plus when in the locked , travel position the motor head protrudes another three inch’s beyond my bow. It’s something that I am always aware of when docking. But have never encountered your problem when launching or retrieving my boat.
Before launching, loosen your winch strap about 6 inches. When backing up hit the brakes hard, the boat will shift back. Then you can launch without it hitting the roller.

I always unhooked mine and did that. Backin up and hit the breaks hard as it got far enough in the water to launch. I either had a partner in the boat or I had it tied off to the winch with a rope so it wouldn't float away.

Agreed. It’s what I do also!
It’s mounted on the left side. It extends over center of bow
So it slid off quick enough that it didn’t hit

That could be your problem. If it extends over the center of your bow it must line up with your wench mount and bow roller. Mine is mounted on the left but is not angled to such a degree that it is pointed towards the center of my bow. It easily clears my wench mount and bow roller when loading and unloading.
So you’re thinking if I move it off center it shouldn’t hit rollers. My boat is at lake so can’t take pictures now but will later when back at the lake. Thanks for your input

Yes I believe that if you moved it to a position where the angle doesn’t align with your bow center that should solve your clearance problem.
How much is yours pointed to left of center
