That's what we do with Shad. Makes the bones soft just like the bones in a can of salmon.

What a fatty...congrats!
My oldest brother and I use to hunt carp when the Columbia River in Oregon would flood up onto our lower pasture. In about 2 feet of water we'd sneak up on them and shoot them with an arrow tied to a light rope. We never ate them but talk about FUN!!

See? I tell ppl carp are good to eat. Its that preconceived notion that's hard to swallow. Canned carp on crackers washed down with cold beer...it's goooood fer ye.

No I dont. I simply deep fried the fish. Used an extremely sharp knife. Luckily I work for a blade sharpening shop. Learned some good techniques to sharpen. Fish was so big the bones didnt grow.out any further.

There is a place in Minn. that serves fried carp and everyone loves it. They cut it into chunks, deep slice the chunks so the oil gets down into the fish which cooks the bones so you cab eat then. Try googling Minn. fried carp. Mike
