Now there is a husbandless culture supported by the government. I was in Cracker Barrel in Ct and I noticed a southern accent from the waitress. I asked her where she was from and she said she had recently moved here. I asked her if she had family here. She answered no I’m a single mom. I can transfer to any Cracker Barrel. I chose Connecticut because they have the best benefits for single moms. The more kids, the more money. Children without fathers, especially boys have a difficult time.

Odd that she would respond with she is a single mom vs something else. Interesting about the kid count.

I grew up with going through 2 step dads and you are so right about difficult. Just when I got to know one, gone. Start to grow into my own and another comes along and makes me wonder how long this one will be around and how close does one get.

Fortunately the last one was the best of 3, if I count my Father.

Thanks FC. That's our forecast for the next 3 days, 50° highs. Showers Friday and Sunday, but just cloudy on Saturday. Gonna shoot for that window, because I don't see any more 50°s in the near future.
Good luck with the Crappie on Monday!

Yesterday was quite mild, I finally got the toe rail on my boat epoxied and clamped. Raining today but it's mostly tarp covered. Also moved and recovered Hutch's two old Harleys behind his garage. Those things are heavy!!!
Hope you got to go out Saturday.

My favorite is still a dark and stormy. Went on a cruise to Bermuda for our 25th anniversary. MIL and daughter went along. Discovered that when you mix dark rum with ginger beer you get a concoction to die for

That sounds interesting. I like the Myers dark in my annual attempts at a Mai Tai. Once a year I recall my trip to Kauai and the last dinner there before coming home. Macadamia nut encrusted tuna with a drizzle of plum sauce and a couple Mai Tais. Awesome!!!

Interesting thread this morning. Well done Plum! Enjoy your break. I also go straight to the Thought of the Day from you and Wulffly when I sign on. Has never been anything but good, uplifting or thoughtful words or pics.

I did Kandy, but no fish would cooperate. Now they're calling for more 50°s tomorrow and next Saturday! Fine with me. Glad you got the boat repair done and covered. Moving Harleys around by hand is tough, especially if not on pavement and with low tires.

He has a Suzuki someone gave him by my garage, a Honda in his shed and "the beast" Harley [was a cop bike] in his yard in a tent. Too much. Only two does he actually ride and now has rented a storage unit 20 minutes away where we are gradually transporting all these things. Don't know about you but I travel light. One good one works for me!

Avoiding accumulation is always a good thing I think.

I have noticed that people who are not good with people usually collect a lot of "stuff." I'd rather have all you guys as friends than a garage full of "things."

I only had 2 for the last 18 yrs, my Nightrain, and my old Yamaha from back in the day. I finally gave the Yamaha and all the parts I had, to a young biker we know. He has a young family and money is tight. He's already got it running (first time this century) and is in the process of customizing now.

And it does your heart good to see it I’ll bet…

Definitely Wulffy! I'm glad to see him getting some use out of it, and he's like a kid with a new toy. His other 2 bikes are are scrap yard composites, and now he has a complete bike to work with.

Boy that will get one thinking Kandy. Had a neighbor who's front yard was basically a junk yard from the locals seeing if he wanted the vehicles for parts and stuff. Never met the guy in 16 years, but some locals said he didn't get along well with others.

Going to be an interesting break Butch. Busy month ahead and prep for the new year. Just might have to research where I can get spiced rum.
