I’ve heard the lakes froze over up in Minnesota about week and half ago,just wondering if anyone has Braved it yet.

Lake Mary, Douglas County, Minnesota. There are a few brave souls that have ventured out pulling their sleds/flip overs. I haven’t gone out to check the thickness in our bay, but I’m guessing about 4”. The big lake just froze over last weekend. Wife and I will wait for 6-8” before we go out. It isn’t worth one’s life to catch a few crappies and gills

It has been reasonably mild temperature wise, highs reach the lower 40’s lately and we are looking for more of the same for the next ten days. Doesn’t make ice very fast like that. We need some good ice before the snow flys!
But for our area, we need snow/precipitation as our lake is down 20” from the norm. It won’t be long before the 30ft Ice Castles get pulled out there! Let’s see….50-70K for the truck and 20-40K for the “fish house”….. maybe not rush it!!!

Erwin, ever go to the Rim lakes? We've pulled limits of trout using corn! One of my largest rainbows came from the forest lakes area. Can't remember the name of the lake. The hike was aways worth the rewards!
