I went through a period of depression and it’s easy to say to think happy thoughts, but sometimes like in my case that didn’t work. I talked to my doctor and explained that I didn’t have any of the things that caused most depression (money problems marital, etc). He checked my thyroid and after medication for that depression went away. It’s not always mental.

I've had four CT scans over the years. I've been to at least six mental health clinics. One of my CT scans was at Vanderbilt in Nashville. One of the top hospitals in the country. I've been on numerous antidepressants even though none of scans showed any physiological problems. The medicine has no impact on my symptoms. The depression isn't caused by negative events or bad days. It's an on going problem that can't be easily treated or wished away by having a positive attitude or taking a walk in the woods. Most people who don't suffer from this problem, have no idea what it's like.

I sympathize with you. There are so many things that can affect us that doctors can’t help because they don’t know enough. I also understand that unless we have the same problem we can’t know what you are going through.
