Yeah I'm pretty sure they all go to the general fund, for use as our gov sees fit. All that $ on gas taxes n we get pot holy roads for free, well long enuff to really admire what almost a dollar a gallon tax gets you. You already paid the price

I'm a C&R fisherman 99% of the time, but when it comes to stripers surely we should be able to keep at least one in some size range. A man's gotta eat.

I agree. I feel that the ones between 22 n 30 inches, sport fishermen concerned about fish stocks, should be C&R, being they probably are the best for reproducing. Me i personally like them little guys. Once upon a time we used to catch stripers constantly in the 26 to 36 inch range...lets get them little ones n let them mommy's go n repro.

Stripers are not even native. What justification could they possibly have for protecting them?

Rite on RBF….here in Oregon they are classified as “invasive”, no limit, no closed season, and they are great table fare…com’en get’em!

Yep and they were introduced to Ca which most likely means they were introduced in Oregon. I think awhile back in my area, SF bay, they were actually talking about trying to eradicate them. Which I don’t think is possible since we are part of the delta. Going back to my much earlier post. When the government starts to cancel seasons, add tags to catch a species or like they did this year, close rock cod in areas early, or reduce halibut retention you never get back what you had. At least where I am. If they had it their way, I’d be using my rods to prop up tarps that cover my winter wood. Oh wait, you can only burn on days they allow. Sorry for the rant, getting old and tired of the government crap!!

Yea the head guys, probably make 200,000 a year, with paid holidays and vacations, now the new ammo tax the governor just this week adds 11 percent on all ammo, so the tax will be 20percnt,so less hunting licenses sold, the governor was really smug when signing the new tax, what about the duck clubs all in Central valley, the members pay water taxes, state taxes, assessment fees,I guess there will be some more parking lots ,more concrete, more urban sprawl, more traffic, guess that's good for the developers

Ya problem is, once they take it we ain’t getting it back! Once they start requiring a tag for something it’s down hill from there. Sturgeon is a good example. Diving for abalone even a better example. We live in a playground for fishing, pretty soon you’ll be looking through a fence at the water with a sign that says do not enter, State of CA. Sorry sore subject!!

If you go to F&G website it says the proposal is the change the "keeper" size limit to between about 20 and 30 inches, NOT TO ELIMIATE ANY TAKE! PLEASE READ THE F&G SITE.

You are right, find myself at fault more than once on one subject and before you know it talking about stuff that should be in the attic.

Not sure what you mean by take it to the attic. Not a term I’ve heard before. But you are correct, we will see what the final regs are that they will enforce. In my lifetime I’ve seen very few instances where the take increases or stays the same. Which means most the time the take decreases. We all can argue the reasons why that’s the case. But who oversees the regs.

Limiting the take to 20-30 inches may be an attempt to yield more quality fish available for "catch and release fishing."
