Good morning to all and to all may your rod be bent.
Glad to hear there is another local.
Does he get out and fish too?

No, he is an engineer, he barely has time to take a pee. He likes to fish, he has all of the equipment, boat, 2 yaks, scuba gear, all kinds of rods & reels. He goes down to Destin, FL. a couple times a year for some underwater fishing but that is about it. I made him a nice 3# fly rod because he lives on the Marimac River and he bought himself a Yak, he used it a couple of times but that is about it. His wife wanted a yak too, so, now both of the yaks sit in the garage.
And proud of him you are I bet Fly. It sounds as though he has all the toys lined up and working his way to the years that you are enjoying.
I have been in both your shoes. Worked two jobs for as long as I can remember just to get to this point. But yet made time for date night with the wife and never answer the phone at dinner time.
In your shoes I am with my wife's 3 boys. One works all the time, one is milking the system until Dec 1, and the other lives day to day. We set examples for them to follow and in time the bell will ring. Being there for them and let them live their lives is all we can do.
Being there for them and let them live their lives is all we can do.
And Pray it all works out for the best.

So true, pb, at one time I had four jobs, I was a wrestling official, taught driver's training, taught school and also sold cars. That was in the Winter time, in the Summer time I sold cars and fished. The Bride and I always go to 5:10 Mass and have a sandwich & a couple barley pops afterwords, it works!
We come from the era that we work for what we want and need Fly. We felt sorry for the kids we were raising and wanted to give them what we didn't have. Spending $ 1,000.00 per kid at Christmas was the norm. Just doing another job to pay for it all was easy. Work was plentiful and the kids were happy. What more could we do.
Time is a lesson and spoiling the grandkids is where we are now. But that $ 1K Christmas is all gone. Our time is short now and we could use that 1 grand.
