I’ve mastered summer, spring, and winter, but fall is just too difficult I’ve barley caught anything.

Were are you going? What are you targeting? What are your methods?

Neshonoc lake in west Salem. I’m trying to target any fish I can get. Perch, bluegills, bass, carp, etc but nothing I do seems to work. I’ve tried hard and soft baits, along with worms and spoons but nothing works.

I know nothing about your state or fishing climates.

In my state, panfish try to fatten up for winter so are very active in fall.

Perch is strictly a winter fish for me. I don’t really fish for Pike, but walleye is fun in the fall.

Bass just go for anything that is aggressive.

I don’t have much useful advice, but varying tactics, depth and baits is your best bet. I looked at the lake you fish, says its mostly sandy bottom?

Maybe look for cover and geography under the water. I fish a sandy lake at times, fish go deeper or find shelves and holes.

Okay so step one, get a boat because none of the areas fishable from shore are deep or sandy

***Since the water temps are dropping the fastest near the surface, consider bottom fishing; jigs and Texas rigs work great. Slow retrieve. The fish stay near the bottom where its warmest.

I reccomend trying wax warms specifically, on a bobber, you'll target more panfish that way. Definitely works in the winter time when I'm ice fishing and they refuse to hit any ice jigs.

Take some old bread and crumble up, toss small handfuls in water to see if any bait fish in lake first. Now chummed up with bait fish get lure working? No bait fish move on!

Just a thought, but do you see anyone else catching anything in that dead lake? Spend a little time talking to pilgrams who are actively wetting hooks in your lake of choice. You'll be surprised at what you might learn. Fall is about the most fish catching season for me in my area of the United states of america. Good luck.

What is a dead lake? How can a dead lake have fish in it if it's dead? Also, are you near Salem, Oregon or Salem, Massachusetts or some other Salem, like in England or who knows where else? They're not the same. Help us out if you want advice. Don't be shy with your information.
