The last time I was on a river fly fishing was when I was 12 years old—on the Frying Pan river in Western Colorado. Now 67 years old, retired and taking it up again in southwest Missouri.

Tablerock area?

Yes, along with north fork of the White River and the 3 state parks nearby. I’m new enough here that I’m spending more time driving around searching for access points than actually fishing right now.

Thank you, I’ll do it. I’ve put In a lot of miles searching lately. Should’ve thought to google it.

Still time well spent driving around, better than in a hurry to get to work. Enjoy it, that's retirement life. Tomorrow you will know the short cut.

Welcome to the Forum, GB, It's MHO, that Lake Tanneycomo is as good as it gets for fly fishing, not only in MO. but the Lower 48. It is a very high pressured area and you will have to be good to catch fish. If I were you, I think I would hire one of the many guides in the area, not only to show you the accesses but also the techniques to use. Tell him/her, and there a lot of female guides down there, that you want this to be a educational experience. Tight Lines, buddy.

Thank you much for the advice. I may just do that. Colorado fishing (which is what I'm used to) is just different from Missouri, but I'll get it figured out. Using a guide--probably a good idea. Thanks again.
