Suggestions/Advice for fishing the Nantahala National Forest (North Carolina) region?
I'll be heading up to NC all of next week, the area around Andrews. Plan to do a lot of fly fishing. First time doing something like this.
If you'd like to suggest any locations I could fish, feel free to PM me. I have 3 in mind at the moment.
Fly suggestions? Other advice? Trying to make the best of the week while I have some time off from work.

I don’t have much useful info for you, but I do know from experience that if you fish the nantahala River, you should check and see what times they plan on releasing water from the damn. That water comes up fast, I almost went on a very bumpy ride...don’t be like me.

It has been cold. The Nantahala (particularly the DH section) is going to be your best bet at getting on fish. Most of the smaller trout streams are gonna be very slow with the temps getting into the teens at night an only topping out in the 40s.

Next week's temps look to be in the high 50's and low 60's so I'm hoping that it will be enough to get the fish moving.

Are you staying in Andrews? If so, that area has several DH streams that are not far. I'd put those at the top of the list.

That's currently the plan. I picked next week for that purpose.
