Trilene or stren or other? Would different situations or temps dictate one over the other? I’m a trilene xl man myself.
Former army I can relate.

Trilene Big Game is a go to for us!
Reason I asked was that while fishing on a very cold night my stren broke 3 times. It froze on retrieve.

The tip top of your rod froze shut and that is what broke your line. I'm guessing. Big Game is good line for the price.

If the temperature is below freezing, occasionally dip your rod into the water shake it to melt the ice in the eyelets. The eyelets are freezing up on you.
Thanks guys,does make sense.
Started with Ande fishing line till Berkley big game came out! Great offshore line with real scuff resistance. Inshore found Momoi`s Hi-catch to work well. Tight lines
Used Ande’s about 3 years but it became hard to find. Never had a problem with it.
Ande fan for decades! Could not fine 60 lb and went to big game next! Works great offshore with low stretch and scuff cuts.
