Setting scent in plastics/rubber

If you lightly boil your plastic/rubber bodies, worms ect in garlic/or other scents, will they retain the scent?

Tip for large plastic swim baits is to lightly heat up in oven. Claims to soften large swim baits for tarpon, they wiggle or swim more. Local tarpon fisherman swears by them large plastic swim baits after dark glow baits or pink ones!

Will shrimp scents work for inland freshwater fish? We save left over dinner shrimp pieces and put in bait keeper for extra scent in saltwater.

Some of our lakes in Fl have grass shrimp all kinds of fish eat them.
