I have a trip booked to go on the party boat. Galveston party boats. For the 23rd of November. They need 40 people to go out. There is only 32 as of now. There is a trip going out November 16th there are still 25 spots available. If the trip on the 23rd does not have the 40 people do I go out on the 16th instead? And Gamble that they won't make their patrons. These are the last trips until March. What is my fisherman friends advice?

You didn't finish that last. Make their patrons. Make them what? I'm confused.

I would call and tell them to put your name on the list of people going on the 16th and not the 23rd. If the 16th doesn't go out then have them put your name on the 23rd.

If the 16th trip does not go many will book up the 23rd trip! Don`t get left out, check cancel policy and book both then cancel before penalty date! Keep checking weather forecast. Make sure you get one last trip in! Tight Lines

Thanks guys. I decided 2 change my booking date from the 23rd to 16th. There just happened to be a cancellation on the corner of the back of the boat! I got that spot! One of the best spots on the boat. Can't wait I will give you all a report of course and the pictures.

The solution to your dilemma is so simple even Hacksaw can figure it out. Book both dates. Trying to figure out which trip won't go out is above the pay grade of anyone on this forum. If they both pan out you'll have two great days of fishing to tell us about. Go for it. Catch a biggen.

If the trip on the 23rd goes out I'm going with it also. I'm freaking addicted! Can't help myself. Sometimes I don't know what to do. I got some extra money for driving at work. And it's going on that extra trip if it goes out

Do they have assigned "spots" when you make your reservation?

Yes the spots are assigned. You get a pic as long as it's available. As long as you rig your own stuff with fluorocarbon 50 lb. You will catch fish no matter where you are at.

I live in Crystal Beach across the bay from Galveston. Have always wanted to try a party boat but have been discouraged by others who say you spend most of your time tangled up with others. True or not? What is cost, length of trip and do you sail from Galveston Yacht Basin? What kind of fish?

I have fished on Galveston party boats about 10 times this year. And I've probably got 15 tangles. I fish a little different than everybody else though I rig my own leaders and use a lighter weight. This keeps me from going straight down with all the others. We always catch a lot of fish. It is a long trip the one I go on it's a 12-hour trip 4 hours out 4 hours fishing and 4 hours back. It's a good time though you make good friends. The cost is $90 that includes your rod and reel and bait I am going this weekend Saturday. if you would like to go I will meet up with you. I will show you the ropes. I also go frequently so I'm available about anytime to go with you.

Crystalbeachbum back to you. Thanks so much for getting back to me. Would love to go this weekend, but still recovering from a bout with lung cancer. I am in remission, but have some lingering issues with the chemo. I would enjoy meeting up with you one day in Galveston over coffee, swap a few lies and getting to know you, if you think that is something you would like to do.

I'm sorry to hear about your illness. My time in Galveston is limited on the days that I go fishing Saturday sometimes I come down Friday night. I would enjoy having a cup of coffee with a fellow fisherman. I am I don't know your hours I can meet at Starbucks right there in the Strand. But it could be at 5:30 in the morning or 8:30 at night Saturday or we can just hold off until I come to Crystal Beach that is a reach we frequent when we go to the beach.
