Big dog
Loc: Bayshore, Long Island, New York
About 5 miles off Gilgo beach, Long Island, New York, bunker pods everywhere. We went past all the pods into deeper water ( 60’), trolled, jigged, bait, casted some lures, got this on a late trolling
Is that dinner for 8 or is he over the limit? Either way sweet catch there.

Dinner tonight, tomorrow, and lunch for a few days too.
Awesome any way you look at it. So darn jealous here. Hopefully come spring when and if they lift the ban that will be my mug shot on here.
And I will see it if I do not get Banned.
Nice BD.
That striped hunk of muscle would sure be fun to fight.
This is the first stripper I ever caught and I didn’t even have any fishing gear with me, lol. This is located on the Brazos River just south of the Possum Kingdom Lake Dam/Spillway; the previous day there had been flash floods and unfortunately a lot of fish got shot out of the outake sluice in the dam and got bashed around. This 32 inch big boy was stunned, barely alive and I just grabbed him from my kayak. After trying to revive it (and three other strippers) for a while, I put him out of his misery and had a damned good supper that evening over the campfire.
Biggest fish I ever ‘caught’!
JA Welcome to the forum.
Nice hand catch noodling counts.
You sure now how to make an entrance.
She's evidentally a Texan Oz, & you know how prone texan's are to putting a spin on a tale. Probably 12 or 15 people took a picture with that poor creature. But, I'll have to hand it to the lady, she took a good fishin picture & has a real fishin story to go with it. Welcome jess, & remember this old Apache indian saying "it's always better to be lucky than good".
I have relatives in T e x a s. Strech.
Still a nice fish.
J A Welcome to the site fellow Kayaker. Nice grab and go there, will the next pic be from the kayak?
Thank you all for your warm welcome and some Texan heckling, lol. The story is absolutely true but you can believe me or not. I do happen to get long-winded in my replies and I apologise in advance, cause 'Sorry, not sorry.' 🤣
I am not a native Texan, I actually have moved around my whole life, but the Austin area is where the hubs and I have chosen to retire.
The fish was only handled by myself and I field dressed it as well, we were the only ones on that section of the river that day.
My kayak at that time was an Intex explorer k-2, I realized that fishing and inflatable kayaks don't mix and I am looking for a replacement. I do have a cheapo sun dolphin Phoenix 10.4 sit in, but it is too heavy for me to load and transport by myself. My husband doesn't fish or kayak, so I am not getting much help in that department. I am actually going to attempt to make a 8 ft sit on top or a youth 6-7 into a 'little person's fishing yak. I am handicapped and short so I have to improvise, overcome and adapt in this case.
Again thanks for the welcome and sorry for hijacking the original posters topic 😔
