I'm looking to try saltwater fishing with some of my baitcasters

I'm looking to try saltwater fishing with some of my baitcasters, targeting flounder off piers and in creeks. Any tips?

I want to use my baitcasters because all my spinning reels are big shore reels that aren't very low profile and I see plenty of people catching flounder with their lightweight rigs so I wanted to give it a try. Do you guys have experience with this? What line, and what flounder bait/rigs work? Thanks!

I use a 1/4 oz jig head with a gulp shrimp and bounce off the bottom. 20 lb braid with 15lb flouro leader. For piers and such I like to look for rocky areas or oyster bars. But best way is a boat/kayak in the marsh creeks. Cover tons of ground. For live bait, I like the equivalent of a drop shot with a lip hooked mud minnow, however I find the gulp (or other soft plastics) method to be more enjoyable and it tends to produce more for me. I have also seen people use bucktail jigs with little strips of bacon as trailers

Thanks for the info man!

How do you feel about the gulp Swimming Mullet? I heard a bunch of people hyping it up a ton but I rarely ever use lures in saltwater.

They aren’t bad but I stick with the shrimp, usually. WyzeGuys tackle makes some really good saltwater swimbaits though!

Good lure for salt is the lucky craft surf pointer. It'll catch about anything out there. They're not cheap, but they're very effective.
