This is just a story and photo I thought might interest our forum !
Eight-yr.-old girl caught this huge trout; took her a half-hour to land
it ! Trout (36.5 in.) nearly doubled former Idaho catch-and-release record ! It is called a GERRARD rainbow/cutthroat trout and is considered to be a distinct sub-species specific to the Clark Fork watershed ! Just look at that trout; it's a beast ! Looks to be nearly half her own size and weight !
Wonderful fish. That pair can strut and brag. I've always heard them called cutbows.
That's awesome. Stories at camp fires for the rest of there lives. What a great memory for them.
Since they measured and
released it, there was no weight given; looked up a formula for 'guess-timating' it ! Also had to estimate girth from photo, so the result is an educated guess, at
best ! (Length × girth/squared ÷ 800) With an estimated girth between 20" to 24" - weight estimated between 18 to 26 lbs. !

Thanks BA.
The looks on their faces says it all.

The smiles tell the story. I’d give my left one to catch a fish that beautiful.

Hell ! That's a fish of a lifetime ! Not only would I be tickled pink to land such a beast, I'd be so ecstatic as to walk on water, all the way to shore, just to show it off ! (All hail giant trout !)

I live down here where there aren’t any fish like that. Maybe some day I’ll get a chance. Someday better hurry up ‘cause I ain’t getting any younger.
