If you don’t mind traveling a bit, go to Carlsbad. From Carlsbad travel south on 62/180, past the Carlsbad Caverns National Park entrance to the Rattlesnake Springs Road. Follow this road until you cross the Black River. There is a parking lot on the left about a quarter of a mile from the Blabk river crossing. You can work the river all the way back to the road crossing. Excellent fishing for large mouth bass and green sunfish. Top water for bass and spinners for the sunfish. Very large cats at night. Crystal clear water, do you have to be sneaky. I used to fish there when I was a Ranger at the Caverns. The Black is a disappearing river... it comes to the surface and goes underground in several areas. Try it, it’s worth the trip.
If you’ve never been to Carlsbad Caverns, it’s worth the trip and combine fishing with a visit to an incredible National Park.
I live in Silver City(Native)
