Its 8:55pm California time. I’m chillin on my couch contemplating going bass fishing tomorrow... my boat has been rented, my bags are packed, 7 rods with the appropriate lures tied on, and a game plan in place.... Here’s the kicker... ENE winds from 15- 25mph, with gusts up to 40! Wild fires friggin everywhere, and believe it or not... 38f on the lake at 6am ( California )! Right now, I am 100% in. I’ll be checking the weather reports until 12am, sleep til 4am, check again. I’ll call the marina at 5am. If I can launch, I’m going. What would you do???πŸ€”πŸ„πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ£

Lures; swimjig, underspin w keiteck, Swaver, 4.3 keiteck Matt Allen jig head, finesse swimbait, heavy Tex rig, and of course... wacky rig. Back up baits; lipless crankbait, spinnerbait, deep crank. πŸ„πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ£

I’ll be driving south of the fires. I’ll definitely go if the winds are sustained below 20mph... I’ve committed myself to bass fishing in any and all conditions. As I have with surfing... I just go! πŸ™πŸ„πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ£

First priority/consideration; is the boat rental refundable or at least flexible in case of inclement weather ? Presuming you have all the necessary clothing/safety gear for said conditions and are a hardy, safety-minded individual, then kudos to you ! To paraphrase Kipling - "You are a better man than I, my friend!" Although physically more tolerant of the cold than most, I have had my fill of it and bear no love for it ! (Why else would I move to Arizona ?) If you go, good luck and stay safe !

Incidentally, the conditions you describe are hardly ideal for bass fishing; sounds more like spring conditions for salmon/ lake trout back east !

You have made a wise choice, it would have not have been a choice for me.

Ya, I tend to push it to the edge sometimes but 60mph winds is suicidal! Heading to the gym instead πŸ‘πŸ„πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ£

Sounds like a family day to be had BF, live to fish another day. I would have said no guts no glory. But screw that, fires, winds and less than ideal temps. That's a no brainer my friend. Pics tomorrow would be nice. Stay safe
