I used a small piece of hotdog wiener. I usually use salad shrimp for my bait. This cat as well as others that I have caught lately have been from my brother-in-law’s two ponds, near Osyka, Mississippi. He feeds them daily with a catfish food. There is a company in Alabama that makes catfish food. I hate to admit it but I lost a rod and spinning reel last week, by not placing it into a pipe that I staked into the bank. I just put it into a hole in my bench seat. I got up and went to the truck to get the pole I use to retrieve fish as I had one on the other rod. Oh well, I will keep on trying to retrieve it.
My wife's Father had always told her hot dogs and spit, that was his go bait 90+ years ago. Must be some truth in that.
Spit on what, how does it stau on the hook? Or do ya just get hooked?

You ought to have seen the hook when I took it out of it’s mouth. It was just about straight.

Welcome dbo.
Just remembered my grandfather used to spit chewing tobacco on night crawlers. Told me it made them wiggle on the hook more.
Welcome D17
Might work but I don't chew.
Alot of folks have said it though.
Something about old people, hope I make it to the point they talk about me with out the use of 4 letter words.
