Hey f2f, thanks for the post about praying for us here in CA. I live in Windsor CA and had to evacuate on Sat 26 Oct. Thank you fire fighters for saving our town and all those who are sending prayers our way. !saw1!

That was supose to be sent to fg.
I had a career in the fire business and can safely state that these people are living through a special stage of Hell. Even the ones who did not lose everything will suffer from this. This fire will effect at least three generations of each of the families who lost so much. There will be many divorces and there will be more than a few suicides from these events.
We offer prayers for them and there really isn't much more we can offer. These people will live with nightmares and a level of depression they haven't imagined. For their lifetimes, they will reach for, or search for something lost. This will hit them again and again. What to you do for a mother who has lost four generations of family photos, or seven generations of inherited heirlooms? What do you do about family pets or livestock that died a horrible, painful death? How deep is the anguish of a family, now a hundred miles from home and still not able to find a place to rest, or get a meal?
This is a disaster as surely as if it were the result of war.
Well said Sp.
Most will never comprehend and that in a way is a good thing.
But the ones living it a whole nother level of PTSD.
Thanks and well put Smoky. You put a perspective on it that until read one can not fathom such despair. Burning a digit on the stove is nowhere near what many have encountered. Losing one's memories or a loved one can not be replaced and we the lucky ones can only offer an ear. Never considered that it will cause lives to be taken ( suicide ), its just hard to swallow.
God Bless those in need and God Bless we who care.
Almost as bad is the effect on those who come to help. Fire fighters will work themselves into a state of blind exhaustion and still be defeated by the elements. Many of them will live with a sense of being crushed by this and never live up to their potential. There will be divorces. There will be suicides and there will be a considerable amount of alcoholism.
Right now, it is 9 degrees outside of my home. I would a hundred times rather put up with this than what is happening there.
Just read your earlier post to the wife and she paused to listen while doing her sewing. Yes you touched another one with the perspective that one doesn't realize until its put so clearly.
Back in the 80's when San Fran. was brought to their knees from a earthquake, I was out there 2 months after the initial event for business. What I saw first hand and listen to the locals, one could not express enough words to make another understand exactly what happen. TV and newspapers only touched what really happen.
So your input is appreciated more than you know. Thanks.
On a brighter note Smoky. It's 78 here in NC

78 sounds soooo nice. We will talk temps again in August. It will be in the low 80's here with low humidity. We reach 90 degrees 8 or 9 days a year.

Okay you got us there. Our 90's are hot and sticky. My theory is I can always slow down and cool off, but that speeding up to get warm SUCKS.
my pickup doesn't even have A/C. If it gets hot, you speed up to cool off.
People in Florida don't have snow tires.
