Creek chub?

Creek chubs have a black spot at the base of the front side of the dorsal fin.

Some type of chub I would say, probably a river chub.

Looks like a sucker but can't tell for sure because the mouth isn't in the picture. They are quite plentiful in Indiana.

I was gonna say sucker. I'm not far from the Wabash and used to catch suckers. Two kinds. Red horse sucker (protected now) and white sucker. If the lips are thick like a carp it's a white sucker. I havent caught a sucker in years.
I’m sure they exist but you know I have never heard of a sucker outside of Indiana. They are so bony it is near impossible to eat one so they are definitely catch and release. I have caught them in Lake Monroe, Salt creek and White river in Indiana but nowhere else in the states. MadMac is correct, their mouth does resemble that of a carp. Enough so they may possibly be of the carp family.

I catch or caught suckers in the Mississinewa river in Grant County Indiana. They range from northern Midwest and northeast and south to georgia and a bit to the southwest. Ken is right when he says they are bony. Only way I know to eat them is to boil or steam them debone and make fish cakes or patties.
