Heading up to Asheville, NC next weekend and wanted to do some fishing. Where are some good spots that aren't too crowded? I fished the hatchery in Brevard probably 12 years ago and thought about going back but figured I'd ask here. Also, what gear/ flies would you suggest right now?

Waters too low to fish unless we get much needed rain

I enjoy the pisgah mountain area or going over to boone. The problem with NC is they changed water rights so private land owner are keeping people off some streams. I would hit up the orvis store in Asheville, they generally point me to some good spots when i am in town.

That is a pretty unreasonable request. I’ll give you my just on the high side of not terrible places. To to the Tuck and beat up some stocker. Or better yet go support a local shop and ask them

Cherokee NC on the Indian reservation is good fishing
Stock every week and have some catch and release twice a week they stock. Me and and my wife went yesterday and had a good day. The Tucaseegee is good also right now on the catch and release. My son in law and myself have caught and released in 4 hours we caught over 100 fish each. Sunburst NC outside Asheville is Great as well. Anybody looking for good fishing in western North Carolina let me know. Tight lines to all. We also love to go low country South Carolina about 4 hr drive and stay inland is great right now. Cw
