I don’t remember when they were introduced in Jersey but we still use them in Maryland.Only one hook is allowed and all the rest are just teasers.
The new generation bass boys call them Alabama rigs.....thinking then came up with something new.We have been using them for years in the Chesapeake Bay.

WE USED AND REFINED THOSE UMBRELLA RIGS FOR YEARS UNTIL THE TUBE AND WORM CAME ALONG

Al Ristori is a personnel friend of and now in his early eighties and still fishes more then 90% of the anglers on this site .
He is a very accomplished and has for fisheries issues for years !
I’m not sure about the dating of those umbrella rigs showing up
In Mass , but myself & Capt Mike Verges introduced them to NJ in the early 70’s !
Ours were developed by Montauk charter captain John Sekora and the changed the way we fished for years !

Al brought the umbrella rigs to monomoy in 1968, or 69 Tops, maybe earlier. The guy was a WIZARD.
