bc, most times payday was on Friday but with some home owners it was paid upon completion of work and hope the check clears. The richer some folks were, the tighter they were. And don't get me started on family. ERRRR

In regards to the flow, it does run down hill but knowing how to reverse feed is where the knowledge kicked in. Then the ability to deny the procedure is a fine tuned art. Also on the masters test.

I grew to understand self employment and all that goes with it sometimes is severely overrated.

Gotta jump in here; you are mostly right there Oz. When my dad and I started our own business back in 1978, our primary reason was so that we could go fishing whenever we wanted to. Prior to that, we worked for another building contractor in K.C. for years. We soon realized that instead of having ONE boss, we had MANY bosses.(every customer was our boss) So with that and all the extra work involved with having employees, paperwork, etc. we ended up fishing less than before. But I’m making up for it now that I’m retired!!!

Builders
Customers
Other trades

And the list goes on

10-12 hours a day for the crew to get 8.

I'll plant as many as 18 tomato plants. I like salsa and lots of it. I'll do different things. Some with carrots, cucumbers, different peppers and of course cilantro. Yes I am a fisherman but I'm also a garden guy. Anything to be outdoors!

Randy you too are so correct there and with Easterns 10 to 12 = 8 so very true. I only did it evenings and weekends and with the wife being a realtor we occasionally saw each other at dinner. Except Saturdays were always date night.

Even as a small 2 - 3 man operation each night was filling out paperwork and answering the machine calls. Was in it to put the money away and invest in my small company and pray that I would make it to this day. For that I Thank the Lord for each day and for the strength that got me here.

Eastern, have you tried salsa on baked fish? Top the fish with salsa bake for what ever time you normally do with a side of grits or fried eggplant. Oh man can't wait for tomorrow night, going to try Bob O's fish on the grill.

Flounder and trout work very well with the salsa.

Yes, the Lord definitely blessed our business for 39+ years. Also with Dad and I both being Christians, we always tithed regularly to our church. I never had more than 5 employees at one time but I (unlike most contractors) always worked on the job every day with my guys. The only exception being if I had to look at another prospective job.

Well maybe the Mrs would want to try it. I occasionally do a crab topping, but most times a little seasoning and tartar is a topping of the past

When I eat I like the flavor of what I am eating most of the time.
