Thats a sad one.. maybe take some time away and see how you feel.. bass fishing is my main focus, sometimes the bite just isnt great in Michigan, so i have to switch it up.. ive personally got into soft plastic making, and just recently into carving baits out of wood and using them.. hate winter but am gearing up for ice fishing already haha

Lose the itch after it gets predictable. I’ve started trying something new...lose the itch for bass, try inshore fishing. Lose the itch for inshore, try spear. Lose the itch for spear try fly. Also, if I’m not next to a place that I can practice my “new” fishing style, I might only get a chance twice a year on trips to do that kind of fishing.

Then I obsess over those trips for the months in between. Itch back...

I know what u mean, I have been Fly Fishing since High School ....about 42 yrs ago. I went to work in the retail side if Fishing in 1988 that was 32 yrs ago. After a few years of talking and selling Fishing everyday to customers I became a little less Itchy to Fly Fish. Pushed me off too because I used to go at least twice a week sometimes more.... lived to Fly Fish. A couple years ago I tried Bass Fishing with conventional gear and it kinda helped. My wife likes to practice Fush for Bass. So it helped me trying something different.

I really understand how u feel , my other problem is I am fairly well known in the Central Valley. So if I am out Fishing I guarantee someone will come up to me and say I know you and want help with their Fishing or have 100 questions etc.... To be honest I get tired of it. I hope u find that SPARK again !

I don’t seem to have as much fun if I’m not sharing the experience with someone else, unless I want to be alone and relax :) but maybe try bringing someone along for your next fishing trip to have someone to talk to and spend quality time with!

Often I fish so much between April - August, I just get kinda burnt out. I lose the desire to go, to read about it, watch YouTube, and I wonder will I get the itch again in the spring or am I done? I always get the itch again.

I would do something else?

Anyhow, maybe you should sit down, and think about fishing--and why you enjoy it. There are many different reasons to enjoy anything, and learning to take enjoyment in many things is a developed skill and not necessarily something that comes naturally.

Some people fish for the fun of fishing with others. I've been a solo angler for twenty six years now. Some people fish to load the boat. I'll walk hours to fish a remote body of water. Some people blast around the lake on a bass boat. I blast from pond to pond in a car. There's many different ways to enjoy our sport.

You still seem to love the sport, so here's my suggestion. Try something new. Pick a spot on the map and go. Adventure requires risk. Adventure requires effort. Adventure requires a challenge.

The thing that keeps the itch absolutely burning for me is pond/lake hopping. Don't keep hitting the same spots - literally pull up Google Maps and go exploring at different spots you can find. So much fun to find a hidden gem. You can also do the same with Fishbrain to confirm that there are actual fish (read: Bass) in a given body of water.
