Hello. I’m traveling to Colorado on Thursday. I’ve heard and it supposed to be 8 degrees and possibly snow. I will be there for 4 days and it gets warmer throughout the days. Do you think it is to cold to fly fish for trout?

Too cold for who? Certainly not for the trout. They'll be there and they'll be hungry. Dress warmly.

We have caught some awesome Bass in freezing weather. The eyes on our rods would freeze up and we would stick them in the water to melt the ice. Caught several with chrome/blue back rattle trap. If stripes or small bass start schooling and you want to catch stripes just run a trap through them. If you want to catch some big bass through pass the breaking stipes and count down the trap below them and then start reeling but hang on cause you'll get a hit just about every cast.

That's why I love the jest of the fisherman tales....errrrr tails,...they ALWAYS tell some truth for what are the obvious reasons.

Colorado is a big state with lots of different fishing waters. If you are working a flyrod, you might try a Woolybugger. If the water is clear, start with vanilla.

No way....I've seen hatches in late winter and if it's cold in the morning and then warms up that's when to look for a hatch or just fish ! . You don't need a hatch to get a trout to swipe at an insect floating by . Or use a small streamer to imitate a baitfish. There are no baits too small even for the biggest trout . So no it wont be to cold . Don't worry about it just go fishing and have some fun . I'm 64 and I have fished for a living one way or the.other all my life .....if there's anything i can help you with email me at wetwillyoffshore@gmail.com. have fun
