I fish Washington st. lakes. planter fish from the brood stock of native rainbow trout. Hard fighters and very tough. I love trolling for the big trout, They hit on a cowbell with wedding ring spinner. Also I use my downriggers for them. Ricky Risteen Belfair marine rickcdory@yahoo.com
For those anglers who cannot afford downrigger equipment, and do not like to troll, I might offer a more inexpensive technique, a more enjoyable and effective way to fish. It's drift-jigging. With this technique, you first locate the fish on your fishfinder before fishing (jigging). A lure called Sonic BaitFish is deadly for trout and just about any other species. You actually present your jig to the fish you see on your fishfinder. This is best done on days when wind is not a problem. Slow-drift jigging is the most effective presentation in sport fishing. I suggest downloading information on jigging via the Sonic BaitFish Tech Guide. I too was a troller in my younger days but wasted too much time trying to locate fish. Locate the fish before you start fishing then stay on those fish by vertical jigging them instead of momentarily passing thru them when trolling. Pete
