Gift ideas for somebody who loves fishing?
My dad loves fishing, and his birthday is coming up in a few days. We fish for anything but he likes fishing for stripers the most. Would there be any good gift ideas for him that has to do with fishing? I'm pretty sure he's set for rods, but if there is any equipment or something that would be awesome. I'd like it to be on Amazon Canada if possible. Thanks!

I've always found the best gear to get for fishermen isn't the actual lures, line, rods or reels. Look for fillet knives, scales, personalized pocket knives for the tackle box, or pliers. That stuff always comes in handy and is something that most people aren't nearly as picky about

Thanks! Would you have any recommendations for a pocket knife?

I'd say something universally useful like a good pair of spring loaded pliers or multi-tool. My personal recommendation would be the new Letherman™ P-series of multi-tools as its magnetically locked instead of a physical one so its much easier to open

Thanks! I'll take a look into that.

As others have stated, lures and gear are good but the accessories make a big difference . Last year my wife got me a nice pair of oakley polarized sunglasses when im out on the water. Ive brought em with me almost every time ive gone out this year. This year i asked her for a little yeti cooler to keep the beer cold in.

Kinda unpersonal but a gift card and go with him to spend it.
Or just take him and tell him to pick something out.

My 12 y/o son bought me a lanyard with a nipper, scissors and a hook sharpner/eye cleaner on it. That was 41 years ago and I still have it and use it every time I fish.
Does your son know you still have it after all these years.Thats great
Just give him a gift certificate. He can get what he wants. Put the gift certificate in a Birthday Card.
Yup. Gift cards are the best thing, I guarantee you he's got his eye on something he really wants but can't justify buying... an excuse to go shopping is the best gift you can give him!
I'm a professional fisherman and although I have enough rods to build a log cabin and seventeen of everything else there is always something in my mind that i really want but i don't talk about it . It's always a kick to walk into a big tackle shop and just walk around picking out things that impress me. With that being said there's no better gift then a gift certificate . Let him get what he wants and have a good time doing it.
The Mystery Tackle Box Subscription. Dad can receive a box 📦 for as many months as you would like...
Either take him to spend the money or give him cash.
