Your incoming tide will tide will always be best try to catch it about 20 minutes before the start of the start of the incoming tide and the best activity with the bite starting to slack off after the Hi tide. The best way to fish for striper's is a larger hook 8/0 and bigger with a sliding sinker and a 2 foot leader to a 8/0 hook one hook only. Look for the mud lines which would be where you see the dark water meeting up with the lighter colored water line. Cast about 2 to 3 feet into the water above the darker mud line letting your bait rest at wait. A larger hook for strippers is a must use or you will miss most of those larger fish. You need to remember that those bigger stripers spend most of there time living in the sea eating larger pry no small bait like some fishermen put on small hooks and the large striped bass are not picky eater's like those baby bass are and they will gulp up a larger hook without a problem and they almost hook them self do to the larger hook but a good hook set is still a must.

I’m in NJ, don’t know best methods for new england, but you better hurry up as the stripers are now migrating south. Talk to your local bait shops
