I don't know about the east coast but out here on the west coast the big ones are out there right now, probably thinking about heading up the rivers to spawn in early early spring. I've seen a few pictures of what people are catching from shore and there's been some pretty nice ones. One 55 pounder. That must have been fun.

In the NJ surf we use bunker chunks on a fishfinder rig, clams on a double hook - weight at the end of the line set up, or throw lures. I use 2 rods using 2 of the 3 set ups.

yeah heard about it a lot good size at this moments fall season even 1 guy fly fishing caught one in nj last year i think 40 to 50 lbs
