I’m starting a setup for carp. I already have a reel It’s an Okuma avenger. I’m wondering if it would work well with an Ugly stik catfish rod. And if not why?, and what other rods do you recommend?

Don't know for sure. But the catfish rod would prolly do well. They are both bottom dweller fat boye species. So it makes sense to me

You cannot go wrong with an Ugly Stick. Great product, indestructible, inexpensive.
