I have tried attaching baloons to the main line with tape or directly to the swivel. Both can get caught in the roller guide . Any input?
Set it up like a slip bobber, beads and a stop?
How deep are you fishing?

At the depth you want on your main line tie a bunch of half hitches with around 6 lb test mono double the 6 lb line over main line and tie 6 or 8 half hitches so you end up with about 8 inches of tail left from the 6 lb mono attach the balloon to one tag end off you go when the balloon hits the first guide it will break and you can just keep reeling tha 6 lb mono on to the reel without a problem and keep using it till tag ends are to short to tie ballon on
Not following this at all. The balloon is for what ? A big wind-drift bobber ? I have seen "kite-fishing", have no idea what "balloon fishing" is about or what you are targeting. Please explain.

There used to suspend large baits , whole bluefish for example, and to set at different depths in your chum slick
Thanks for the reply.I like your approach to the balloon issue. I still don't like the balloon jamming in the top roller guide. I was told of another approach where you make an over hand knot in the balloon and slip the mono before tightening the knot. When a fish hits the money slides out and the balloon is gone.
Thanks for the reply.I don't think it will work as I must suspend lare baits about 1# or more to a depth of 50' or greater. I must first get the bait to the depth and then attach the balloon
Thanks for the reply. Balloon fishing is a way of getting the bait to an approximate depth. When a fish hits the balloon breaks. I am looking for a way to release the broken balloon with out pulling it through the guides.

I know it will work I mated for 25 years for tuna shark this is how it’s done 95 percent of the time when the fish hits he will break the ballon free if it doesn’t it will break free when it hits the rod

You let the bait out at the boat to the desired depth attach a sinker to hold it down with tape ,attach the ballon to your 6 lb mono let it drift out to desired length from boat deepest long ,one deepest usually 60 ,40, 30, 20 but that’s totally up to you keep bait at depth the chum would be at deeper long shallow sort any where from 30 short one to 100 ft long one
