I recently got into tying flies. I am going to Colorado for a holiday and immediately thought of fly tying. I have been tying flies and just bought some craft fur. To make streamers for bass and saltwater fishing. Could people please tell me if it is a good fly.

Thin Mints and Thin Mints with a stinger, AKA articulated Thin Mints should work quite well in Colorado. Never tried them in the salt but they may prove very good there also.
I don't recognize the fly in the picture so can not comment on its catching capabilities in Colorado, but looks as if it should do very well in the salt.

It looks like a Clouser Minnow, and it will catch fish.....when it comes to tying flies which I've done for 68 years, commercially for 30, there's art and there's flies you fish with, some of my flies aren't pretty, but they dont fall apart and they catch fish. I can can tie most Steelhead patterns in under 5 minutes, I sell 1000s a year and I have happy customers. With flyfishing the only opinion that matters is the fish....

For a newbie to fly tying, you should be proud of that streamer. And yes, it is a Clouser. You’ll have trouble finding saltwater in Colorado, but for trout and bass it should work just fine.

Looks just like Clouser Minnows I just bought from Flyshack.com. Great job!

Further to my previous reply, you used a stainless steel hook. That will work in both fresh and saltwater. Never use a bronzed, blued or japanned hook in saltwater. It will rust out as you walk back to your car.

Depending on when (season)you are fishing, you will have limited success with the white and chartreuse. The pattern is right on, your color scheme is a bit too bright in my experience. Try black and olive size 6-12. I’ve found this pattern/color to be almost as effective as a sculpzilla in deeper cuts and pools in the rivers of sw Colorado. If you can find tungsten eyes , all the better.
If your at a lake with big browns or pike, the traditional Clousser (like yours) should be just fine.
