Any help identifying these florida guys? I think the first one is a bream of some kind, but can't quite figure out which one. The second looks like a bass (kinda?) but the dorsal fin on either fish isn't separated. I havent stocked the pond but want to this spring and I'm trying to figure out what I have so I can make a plan. Thanks!

Haven't done anything, amazingly enough. Caught 5 fish today on about 10 casts. It's only a 100x70 pond that's 15 feet deep. Wanted to stock largemouth next spring but i figured I'd figure out what was in there first. Was shocked. Pulled out a catfish as well.

Not sure on species. Not familiar with those types.

But how did fish end up in the pond? Is it off a stream? Or was it just a hole you filled? I have so many questions. I need answers! lol

All sunfish eggs are sticky and stick to waterfowl, they spread them from pond to pond, that’s how naturally occurring, spring fed bodies of water all have the same naturally occurring species without ever being connected.

Just dug a hole in the backyard and it filled with water and fish! I noticed lots of minnows this spring and a few weeks ago I went back and saw fish popping left and right. Couldn't believe it, but they're in there. I'm about 1 mile inland from a major river, so birds are my best guess. There's a whole ecosystem that started with no help from me. Next step is getting some cover in there and stocking what I want I guess.
