on a new large lake get 6 markers ready, drive around with your depth finder on and throw a marker on any good looking bottom, the best for me are underwater islands that come up to 10 or so ft from the surface and go back down to at least 20 feet. This is NOT for cold water spring fishing, Those fish will be up in the NW corner of the lake almost ONshore, trying to get a Tan. And EASY to catch.
