Fishing 🎣 with a great blue heron in my spot

Went carping in 69 degrees Carnegie Lake this evening on a cloudy, cold day with a strong east wind. Caught 7 bluegills, 3 red breasted sunfish, a greengill, 2 common carp to 12 lbs and a musk turtle 🐢 with canned whole kernel corn 🌽. Saw a great blue heron catch and swallow 9 fish 🐠 before catching and releasing a bluegill. Caught 6 common carp that weighed 50.5 lbs the last 4 days. 3 carp stole 5 of my hooks in the past week.

3 hooks in 3 double overhand loops. Not good for big fish 🐟 in snag filled water. One fish swallowed my hook and I couldn’t get it back with needle nose pliers. A second fish 🐠 wrapped my line around an underwater downed tree. The third fish broke my 12 lb test line while I was reeling in my ultralight rig. I just started using that rig last year and it’s good for small fish.

You’re right, I gave it 80 fish 🐠 in the past 2 years. It wouldn’t eat more than 9 in one day. It doesn’t eat turtles, catfish or big fish.

Bands, thats a great photo of the heron. How did ya ever get him to pose for his portrait like that ? Nice fish too. Musta been a very satisfying trip.

It hangs out in my spot for hours a day and comes very close when it wants fish 🐠.
