I'm looking to take my kids fishing, but hope to target walleye or perch. Any tips as to where may be the best location in Saginaw Bay (michigan) area for my kids and I to land a few fish while being safe. Thx.
Tawas and East Tawas both have piers / breakwater I believe you can fish from
Made many trips as a youngster with my family and also later with just my dad to both Au Gres and Caseville piers. Caught lots of perch, sometimes rock bass (Caseville) and crappie (Au Gres) also.
I had a preference for Caseville. Seemed like the perch were bigger there for some reason.
Some of the cuts should still be producing. Ask a local bait shop and they should steer you straight. Anywhere from Quanicasee to Tawas should provide some active spots.
There's a park at the mouth of the Saginaw river where you can fish from the bank or the dock. I've caught both walleye and perch there.
