Lived in Va. all my life, an moved to Canton, Ohio when I retired so my wife could be with her family. Fished with my kids in the early 80's an grandkids all the time. Yes, there is nothing better than being on the water, at anytime.

You mean suicidal! Well it wasn't a pic it was me taken the wife out in the early 70's an I told her I was bass fishing. Well, come Xmas time she bought me a belt buckle with a beautiful bluegill on it. I said I bass fish, she said I thought that was a bass that's all you catch. Women, got to love'em.

You've got some great fishing all around you. Check out the app HUNTFISH OHIO. All kinds of maps on there. Plus ODNR.

There should be some guys closer to you that will chime in. The best shore access lakes I fish are Wellington Upper Reservior (access all the way around) Findley State park ( a good amount of access maybe 40% of the lake and Norwalk Reserviors they all have good shore access 80% + but the furthest back lake is the best fishing in my opinion.

Plenty of lakes around us with nice shore access, I prefer to throw lines from the bridge at Walbourne Res. We have a bunch of lakes within 30 minutes from Canton. Atwood, Guilford, Deer Creek, Walbourne, West Branch, Berlin, Lake Milton. There are more but these we visit throughout the year.
