Curious from someone who just started bass fishing this year - how long did it take to accrue so much tackle? Did you buy a tonne in one go, or just slowly add to the pile? "Hey I need a swim jig" "Hey I need a heavier swim jig with a chartreuse skirt" etc etc.

And I know some guys' tackle collections grow waaaay larger than this too.

Mine grew from watching YouTube. Don’t watch YouTube.

If I could start over I would’ve just got the mystery tackle box or similar and tried to use some self control.

Wow I feel the opposite. If I did a subscription I'd still buy stuff on my own then never go through a box in a month and horde even faster.

For me at least, it's a lot of "I really like these so I'm going to stock up and buy a bunch in case I break off or lose any... might as well get a couple more in a couple different colors and sizes right? I mean, what if they won't bite a green pumpkin but they will bite a pearl white? I should probably get some trailers too while I'm here, and ooh I've been meaning to try that so I'll pick up one or two..." etc etc until you end up with a mountain of tackle that you don't know what to do with

It takes a bit. I'd have something I want to fish more, so I'd buy extra of that to play around with during sales. Combine that with a couple years of general deal shopping will leave you with a bunch of stuff.

Some things that have proven to work really well for me I’ll buy a couple at a time some other things work better in the fall than the spring so I’ll just save those if they don’t get lost and stock up when j need em. A lot of my stuff is actually a year or two old. Little by little is the way i go.

Yeah i usually just throw em into zip lock baggies i think they fit a little easier in the boxes. Some people just throw them in a big zip lock bag in the original packaging i just think the way i have it works easier for me

Oh, the bait monkey bit you too? I switched to two modular tackle boxes. I just take the organizer for whichever technic I'm using that day.

BTW... it wasn't until much later in life I learned about seasonal approaches so I got tackle coming out of my ears. Now, I feel better at what to use & when.

Haha I’ve been accumulating over the years I’ll prolly kick myself for saying this but i don’t lose a lot of stuff some of that is a few years old lol that stuff stays in the boat and if I’m gunna shore fish or something i just bring one box with a few random things i think will work.

I wish that was all I had to do to my tackle box.
I had sat mine on a stool on the carport and organized it (set up for catfish) and my wife came along and knocked it off upside down.
So she swept it all up and dumped it in the bottom of the box.
so now I have to dump it out again and put it back one sinker or hook at a time.

Don't complain about a little reorganization.

Yea when I start organizing I start want to go fishing. Right now replacing bunks on my trailer. Try out the Overton ABS slick slides or something like that. Going to take the boat off of the trailer so O can re do the whole trailer, Have at least to bunk supports that I will have to replace. Going to try the Alumnweld to see if it works. If it don't will drill the frame or have my son in-law or step son weld it. Any pros/cons on Aluumweld please let me know. Wish us luck.
