I need to re spool all my spincast reels.

I don't use braid, I use mono or flouro and honestly don't know the difference.

For casting, what lb. test do you like for pike and what do you like for LM bass? Is there a happy medium line for both? I do use a leader all the time to be prepaired for anything that might take my bait. I hope on a fluke a musky takes my lure. One did but only 20".

My wife uses spincast reels and it seems that they perform best with 10lb mono, she has one that can use braid, I tried to put straight fluorocarbon on one once and all it did was break when she casted, just my thoughts

Ed i used mostly 8 or 10 lb floro on spinning.
10 to 14 on baitcasters. Floro or braid

Also use what I consider a great middle ground line.

I've used it in the past.
With the increase in price I've gone back to it.
It's p-line copolymer line. I'm
Great price. I personally think it better than mono close to floro n much cheaper.
I still use some braid.
5lb n up.
10lb max on spinning.
Baitcasters in general 10 to 20 lb braid.
I tend to go lighter than most.
Mono backer on all baitcasters.
Mono backer on spinning if using braid.

Unless it's a small reel I use Mono backer to save money 👍

Ed,

Just for kicks consider trying 15 pound braid with an eight pound fluoro or pline leader on one of your reels.I don't fight line twist as much with that setup as I did with mono. I stay away from spider wire braid

Jim I agree with you in spider wire.
I've talked to guys that tried Spider wire stealth n like really liked it.

I'll stick with power pro Suffix or one I've been using lately.
Beyond Braid.
I like it 👍

What is the difference between mono and flouro?

Monofilament has been the dependable standby for more than fifty years. It's inexpensive and readily available. Fluorocarbon is supposedly nearly invisible or less visible to fish but more expensive. I use monofilament for top water because it floats. Fluorocarbon for crank baits because it sinks or at least has neutral boyancy. I'm sure others can explain it better than I.

Fluorocarbon is supposed to be invisible under water and it doesn’t stretch like mono does also in my opinion it’s stiffer than mono, I love fluorocarbon but I will only use it for leaders
