Greeting Anglers,
I just came across this forum, it looks great!
I'm looking for a few good freshwater fishing spots within a 90 minute drive from Los Angeles. Any assistance would be helpful. Thanks

Welcome to the Stage Rich. I live in Nor Cal so I'm not much help.
We have some from down around your way, so hopefully they'll chime in soon.

Lake Skinner near Temula, Diamond Valley Reservoir close to Hemet.lrvine Lake.
And several more. Lake Peris.
Look them up and you will catch fish.
I'm posting some of from Diamond Valley Reservoir tonight. There's good fishing in SO Cal you just need to get out and go through the learning curves.
Tight lines my friend

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the recommendations. I'm going to check those places out. I haven't heard of Lake Skinner or Diamond valley. The ones I've heard about is Lake Casitas, Castaic Lake, Pyramid and Piru. Thanks

Welcome to stage Rich. Are you fishing the shore or boat? And where in L.A. do you live? Just things that can help in answering your questions.

Hi and thanks for the follow up. I have done both freshwater (shore and rented a boat a couple of times). I live in Woodland Hills in San Fernando Valley. Looking for good spots within a one and a half hour drive at most for a 1/2 day fishing. Willing to drive 2 hrs if the potential is worth it. Castaic (which is only a 40 minute ride) seems to have run out of fish.

The two premiere lakes in SoCal have been Castaic and Diamond Valley. They have both have had their issues, primarily water levels. I personally feel they are on their way back and the fishing is only going to get better. PaulFish mentioned the lakes I would recommend but those are quite a drive for you. I would stay in your own general area until you get accustom to the type of fishing you want to do. I am a boat guy so can't really help with shore fishing. Good luck and let us know how you do.
