Went ultralight jigging in 66 degree Carnegie Lake this evening on a warm, sunny day with little wind. Caught and released 2 bluegills with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. A fisherman from Virginia was in my spot, so I went fishing 🎣 on the south shore of the Millstone River in West Windsor, NJ, for the first time this year. Caught and released 4 white perch, a 13” largemouth bass and a 13.5” pickerel. Mosquitoes 🦟 were biting. An osprey dove into the river. Lots of turtles 🐢 were nearby. Heard a bullfrog. Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, crows 🐦⬛, double crested cormorants, great egrets, great blue heron, doves, grackles, redwing blackbirds, swallows and robins were flying. A few fish 🐠 were swirling. Took pictures.
That's a great day afield Bands!!
Unfortunately the mosquitoes are inevitable 😕

Another great day Bands. Thanks for the pictures.
Spray a long sleeve shirt and the pants with Cutters (15% Deet) or 15% Repell from Walmart. The 15% is safe for skin contact. The clothes even wet will still repel the Mosquitoes. Spray the socks and bottoms of the pants and no Ticks or Chiggers either. Learned that trick in the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico years and years ago.
As a side note, now that paper bags are back in fashion, always have one and some Silicon Glue/Permatex Gasket RTV when tent camping.
IF the tent gets a tear in it, tear the paper bag into 2 pieces that will cover the tear.
Smear the glue on both pieces on one side each and put one piece on the inside and the other on the outside, sealing the tear.
Now you don't have to go to town just to buy a new tent. At least until after you get home. LOL
The "patch" will stop both bugs and water from coming into the tent.

Be aware that most insect repellants are also FISH repellants. If you get any on your hands and bait, you probably won't catch anything.

That's why I said to do the clothes. Gloves for the hands, Head Net for the face and neck. ; )
I try not to use it unless the bugs are really bad, and then I try to get someone else to spray me so I don't get it on my hands. I have skunked myself a few times over the years by not being careful with it.
Good fishing!
Great pictures again Bands! Nice pickerel, surprised he didn't break the line.
Good idea never heard of that before have a good year camping

It was a miracle catch. The fish 🐟 bit off my lure, as I pulled it onshore but I managed to grab it in the water before it could swim away.

That's why I almost always use wire leaders if toothy fish are there.
